Many people around the globe are willing to create a website and eager to host it. Some people go for free hosting services like Geocities offered by Yahoo. Some buy a hosting package and host it. Most of us first try to host a website in a free hosting service and after monitoring the success of the website, we shift for a paid hosting service. In this post I would like to explain you about the free web hosting services.

The most important thing you must remember is that there are no charity oriented services in the internet. There are many free services. But these free service providers don’t offer a free service if they don’t receive an income from the service by some other way. Therefore you must not think that even though they are free, they don’t have commercial purposes. For an example, when you host a website in Geocities, you will see advertisements in your web pages added by Yahoo. Some free web hosting services don’t put advertisements in your web page. But they show an advertisement page, before your web site appears.

Another thing is that you won’t get a desired URL for your web address. For an example if you host with Geocities, you will get a URL like www.geocities.com/<your website name>. And you won’t get a domain name you like. There are space restrictions also. If you are hosting a commercial or professional website, I don’t recommend a free web hosting service. If you are hosting a website for an experimental purpose or just for fun, it is ok to host in free web hosting service.

Most of us use free email services to create email accounts and maintain them. Sometimes we use these email accounts to send very important emails. I also have experienced this. But there are times we hate these email services due to many reasons. I will describe some disadvantages of these free email services in this post.

The most important disadvantage is the security and privacy. We cannot control our privacy and security of our emails and profile data. All the free email service providers including Gmail, Yahoo and hotmail say that they guarantee the full privacy. But can we make sure that they actually do that. Most of us receive unwanted emails (spam) even if we don’t provide our email addresses to a third party. Some of you may know that many free email services sell their email addresses to various marketing companies. Therefore we can’t believe on the guarantees of these free email service providers.

Another disadvantage is most of these free email services provides simple web based email facilities where we can’t do many modifications. For an example if we use Gmail web interface to send an email, it is very hard to add a picture from our local machine instead of sending as an attachment. It also limits the customization of text and images. It is hard to add a customized email signature also.

Many companies provide free email services to make it as a good advertising and marketing medium. Actually that’s all they want and don’t care about how it affects the email user. For an example when you log into your Gmail or Yahoo email account, you will see advertisements in the right side and top. This is not a big headache in Gmail, but in Yahoo it is a real headache especially with their new webmail interface. I’m not comfortable with it and actually it is a headache for me. I think that most of you feel in the same way. It is possible to assume that we will lose our actual email workspace size in the coming future where more and more advertising and marketing methods are added to our web email interface. Up to now, there is one way that we can stop this by configuring an email client like Outlook or Thunderbird for our email account.

As far as I know, some companies and individuals pay less attention to the emails they receive from free email services addresses as they experience that most of them are spam. Due to this, there is a great possibility that they will miss very important emails sent to them. This will also affect us if we send important emails from free email services.

Therefore it is better if you can have a personal email account in your own domain (Ex. yourname@yourdomain.com) if it is affordable. If not, make sure that you use an email client and put an attractive mail subject where the receiver will put more attention to your email.

I’m going to let you know about the way I got approved for Google AdSense. This is a proven method and I didn’t have any trouble yet. I’m not quite sure whether Google will make actions to change their approval policy after finding this method. But still it is OK with them.

If you are going through the standard way, first you have to build a quality website according to AdSense guidelines. And then you have to host it with a web hosting service provider. If you know web designing, then you can reduce the cost for both of these. But otherwise you will have to spend at least few hundreds of Dollars. And there is a possibility that Google will reject your application for AdSense, if you haven’t followed the guidelines. The method that I’m going to describe here won’t make you any of above mentioned troubles.

If you are familiar with blogs and blogging you know about blogger.com which is a blogging service provided by Google. If you don’t have a blogger.com account, it is free to sign up for an account. For this you will need an email address of Gmail. You will need it for applying for AdSense also. Therefore if you don’t have these or one of this membership (blogger.com and Gmail), first get the both memberships. When you register with blogger.com you can create your own blog with modifications. Then publish your blog. Then go to the administrative panel of your blog and click “Template>Page Template”. Then click the “Add a Page Element” link and a pop up window will appear as below.

You will find “AdSense” element there. When you click “ADD TO BLOG” button in that element, you will be directed to the AdSense registration page. Fill all the required fields in the application form correctly and submit it. Hurray! You are done. Google will approve your application within 2-3 days. You don’t have to worry about the possibility of rejection of your application as blogger.com is a one of their services. Once your approval confirmed through email(Gmail address you registered with), you are free to put your AdSense code in any website that you like.
